Worker Information

All autocross events rely on participant workers and those who volunteer to participate in certain key positions.  These positions are very valuable to the region and are absolutely required to make an autocross event possible.

Here is a listing of worker positions that are needed for an event. There are 60+ positions listed. This number is not set in stone and more workers can be accommodated or we can make do with less if we don't have 60+ entrants. However some positions are required and we MUST have manpower for those positions or the event can not be put on.

Priority - SCCA members will be assigned to workers positions that require SCCA membership/license until these positions are filled. Folks that pre-register on-line (www.myautoevents.com) can  chose their worker positions at that time and their job assignments will be based on the order that their pre-registration is received. (You might want to list 2 or 3 preferences in case you select a job that has already been assigned, so that you don't just get slotted into the next open position)

Safety Steward - This is a valuable, trained position that is in place to oversee the safe operation of the event.  Safety is extremely important.  The safe operation of our events is imperative to the region's ability to continue having a place to race at.  SCCA Solo Safety Steward License is required. The Safety Steward is the Chief of Safety Workers. At least one Safety Steward is required for an event to take place.

Youth Steward -  The Youth Steward in responsible for the Jr. Driver program and it's participants. They conduct the Jr. Driver Meetings and Walkthroughs as needed.

Registration (on site) - Registration workers register drivers, accept payment, and verify that participants possess valid drivers licenses.  They also make sure that participants and spectators sign the SCCA waver and wear the wrist bands.  The On-Site Registration Clerk is the Chief of Registration Workers.

Timing & Scoring - Timing and Scoring workers are responsible for the setup, operation, and breakdown of the timer, display board, PC, and PA system.  Timing and Scoring workers run the Grid, Start line, and T&S computer and software. The Timing Official is the Chief of Timing and Scoring Workers.

Chief of Workers - The Chief of Workers helps determine the run-work schedule, assigns workers to required tasks and corner stations, and tracks worker participation.  This is a key position to insure that the event runs smoothly.

Cone Shaggers - Cone Shaggers man the course stations in different Areas of the course.  Each station should have at least of 2 workers if possible. Each Area  should have a red flag (to wave off the driver if required), a fire extinguisher, and a radio to communicate with timing and scoring and other stations.  This position entails the assessment of penalties and the first line safety of drivers on the course.  If you have not signed up in advance for any other position or have not been properly trained for other positions, this is where you will be.
